What is a bug sweep?
A bug sweep is a physical and electronic inspection of a space to detect any covert listening devices, cameras or tracking equipment that has been placed without your knowledge. We use RF spectrum analysers, non-linear junction detectors and physical inspection techniques to check every part of a room or vehicle.
Most hidden devices emit a radio frequency signal when they transmit. Some store data locally and only transmit occasionally. Our equipment detects both types.
When do you need a sweep?
People book sweeps for many different reasons. Common ones include:
- Going through a divorce or custody dispute and concerned about being monitored at home
- Involved in high-value litigation and concerned about boardroom confidentiality
- New to a rented property or hotel room being used for sensitive meetings
- Unexplained information leaks from business meetings
- Concern that a vehicle has been fitted with a tracker by a third party
- Suspicious behaviour from a partner or colleague that suggests monitoring
- Before or after a sensitive business negotiation or mediation
Office and boardroom sweeps
We inspect offices, boardrooms, meeting rooms and reception areas for hidden microphones, camera transmitters and data collection devices. We check furniture, light fittings, plug sockets, AV equipment, air conditioning units and any other locations where a device could be concealed.
We recommend sweeps before sensitive meetings, after renovations or maintenance work, and periodically as a routine precaution for businesses operating in competitive or high-stakes industries.
Residential sweeps
We sweep homes, apartments and rental properties. This is common in separation and divorce situations, where a suspicious partner may have installed devices. We check all rooms, including bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas, and inspect items that have recently been gifted or moved into the property.
Vehicle sweeps
We check vehicles for covertly installed GPS trackers and listening devices. This is relevant if you suspect a partner, employer or third party has fitted a device to monitor your movements. We use both electronic detection and physical inspection to check under the vehicle, inside the cabin, inside the boot and within the engine compartment.
What we use
- RF spectrum analysers to detect transmitting devices across a wide frequency range
- Non-linear junction detectors (NLJD) to locate electronic components even when a device is switched off
- Thermal imaging to identify devices generating heat
- Physical inspection with mirror and torch for mechanical concealment
What you receive
After the sweep you receive a verbal briefing and a written report confirming what was found, where we inspected, and the equipment used. If a device is found, we advise you on your options including preservation of evidence for legal purposes.
